press release

New project of the group Pode Bal is concerning the question of the national identity and the historical traumas which helped shaping it. There will be portraits of seven children bearing tablets with handwritten inscriptions around their necks. One of these inscriptions reads: “You don’t have to suffer that we denunciated during the normalization. "I will suffer for you."
The exhibition is a follow up of a flagellation series, initiated by Pode Bal in November 2005. The first product of this ongoing project was a T-shirt with the following motto: "I am a Czech piker, who just watched when they deported the Jews, hailed with the Nazis, waved at the commies, and then wanted a guarantee of a granted income."
